HAVING had to postpone the event for the last two years due to Covid-19 restrictions, Frome Lions are pleased to announce that their long established Charity Sponsored Swim is coming back in 2022.
The Lions are calling on all clubs and organisations in the Frome area who would like to raise some much-needed funds and also at the same time help the Lions to raise money for a worthwhile local charity.
This year’s swim will be held on Sunday 20th March at The Frome Leisure Centre.
On behalf of Frome Lions, Mike Geake, says, “We invite your club or organisation to raise a team of six, to take part in the swim, with each member of the team obtaining their own sponsorship.
“The swim is open to all clubs, business houses, schools, associations, youth organisations, family groups etc. There is no limit to the number of teams entered by any one organisation, but no swimmer may enter in more than one team.
“Swimming will take place in 30-minute sessions between 4pm and 8pm. If you wish to swim within a certain period, please make that clear on the relevant section of the entry form.
“This year for the first time we will commence the evening with the pool configured for swimming widths rather than lengths to enable younger swimmers (9 and under) to participate.
“The sponsorship money will be shared (50/50) between a charity of your choice or your own club/school funds and Frome Lions Club Charitable Trust. For this year’s event the Lions will be supporting ‘SHINE’ formerly known as the Association for Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus.”
Application Forms are obtainable from the Club website www.fromelions. org.uk or email Lion Greg Wood at greg.wood@ fromelions.org.uk
Frome Lions would like to thank AGGREGATE Industries UK Ltd for their long time support of the event which means that every penny raised by it goes to supporting the organisations taking part and the Lions’ chosen charity.
