Frome Landlords Association is hosting an evening talk upstairs at the Cheese and Grain at 7pm on Monday 13th May, about what Mendip District Council is doing to help private landlords keep their rental properties up to standard.
“One of the biggest challenges for any landlord is to ensure that their asset is protected, their property is rentable and their tenants are warm, safe and dry,” says Vicki Burke, of Fair Housing for Frome. “Sadly, we hear many stories of private landlords who struggle to do this. Yet it’s not widely known that in addition to providing advice and support – and where necessary, enforcing standards – Mendip District Council have set up a loan scheme specifically to help private landlords make essential repairs or turn an empty property back into a rentable home.
“Our two guest speakers will be Amanda Rose, who is one of Mendip’s team of Environmental Health Officers, and Ellie Lister from Wessex Resolutions, which provides loans of £1,000-15,000 to landlords.”
Entry & refreshments are free. The Association is an initiative of Fair Housing for Frome www.fairhousingforfrome.org.uk.
