If you have ever wanted to know more about Frome’s history, now is your chance to find out.
Frome Community Education is running a five week course on the town’s illustrious and fascinating past, starting on Thursday 14th January 2016.
The course is being tutored by local author and historian David Lassman.
David is a member of the Frome Society for Local Study and organised an event for them about wartime evacuees for last year’s Frome Festival. He has also written a book about Frome during World War One, which will be published later this year by Pen & Sword Publishing.
The course will cover the history of Frome from its founding by St Aldhelm up to the present day and there will be a chance to research your own chosen subject.
David said, “The local history course has always proved very popular and can be a springboard to other things.”
A former participant of the course, Mick Davis, recently had a book published called ‘The Lost Pubs of Frome’, inspired by the work he did on the course.
The course will take place upstairs at Frome Library between 1.30 and 3.30pm on 14th January, and costs £50.00.
