A LOCAL boy has organised a six-hour cycle-athon to raise money for local charity, Frome’s Missing Links.
Nine-year-old Jesse Haylett will take part in the six-hour stationary cycle-athon on Sunday 3rd December at Frome’s Venue – 23 Bath Street. Jesse’s mum, Rowena Candy said, “Jesse will start cycling at 10am and finish at 4pm. There will be two bikes set up so others can come and join in to support him, take over when he needs a break, or just cheer him on! There will be at least one bike cycling at any time during the six hours.
“Jesse’s family and I will be there to support him and take on some of the cycling. It would be great for people to come and encourage him on the day. There will also be a table of goodies and cakes for sale.
“It’s Independent Market day and The Venue will be holding their ‘Winter Warmer’ that day, with warmed winter Pimm’s, hot chocolate and awesome tunes to warm your souls!
“Jesse wanted to raise money for Frome’s Missing Links because it’s something that people can use as a family. He likes it that people can cycle, walk or run without having to worry about sharing the paths with cars.”
Jesse and his family use route 24 regularly for family bike rides and he cycles alongside his mum Rowena when she goes running.
Rowena said, “The plan has been a while in the making whilst he decided on a fitting challenge. First of all, he sold at a car boot sale at Frome Market in the hope that some of the toys and books he’d grown out of would go towards his fund raising. His efforts raised £21.50 to add to the big event.”
To support Jesse, you can donate via Frome’s Missing Links’ website: www.fromesmissinglinks.org.uk/donate/ (Please put ‘Jesse’ as your reference)
