
LOCAL business, Vallis Group Ltd hosted Ed Parker, founder of charity Walking with the Wounded, on Tuesday 11th December to talk through the work they do for injured veterans.
Walking with the Wounded helps needy service veterans to establish themselves in society. It helps veterans to become independent with a rewarding job.
The charity was started in 2010 and its CEO and founder, Ed Parker, who served in the British Army in the 1980s and 90s. In 2009 Ed’s nephew was severely wounded while serving with the Rifles Regiment in Afghanistan, which led to him establishing Walking With The Wounded.
Ed has been on several expeditions: crossing deserts, climbing mountains and skiing to both Poles.
He has worked with Prince Harry the expedition to the South Pole. Prince Harry is closely involved in the charity and has been patron of several expeditions.
Ed is tirelessly raising the profile of Walking With the Wounded and he gave an inspiring talk to the staff of Vallis Group in the Frome Town Hall.
Ema Wheeler at Vallis Group said, “It was a fantastic presentation and very humbling.”
Andrew Barr-Sim, Managing Director of Vallis, donated £1,000 on behalf of the company to the charity.
Next year, eight Vallis staff will be completing the Cumbrian Challenge alongside thousands of others. Each team of four supports an individual service veteran.
The Cumbrian Challenge is an annual flagship fundraising event for those who want to show their support and allow them to experience a memorable team-building weekend in the Lake District alongside the beneficiaries.
