Oasis Carnival Club’s entry titled ‘Ten To Midnight’ has won the title of best on the county carnival circuit.
The club, which is based in Frome, has won the ‘Mid Somerset G&F 40th Anniversary Trophy’.
The county cup awards, which are organised by the Somerset County Guy Fawkes Carnivals Association, are handed out to clubs who participate in eight carnivals across the county circuit, including Glastonbury, Wells and Shepton Mallet.
President of the club, Dick Goodenough, told Frome Times, “We have been in existence since 2000 and for the first time we have won this trophy – this being the first time this trophy has been won by a club outside of Bridgwater!
“The club is very proud to have won this trophy and to bring some recognition to carnival in this area. We hope to carry on to greater things!
“Oasis Carnival Club is a Frome-based club who take part in the winter carnivals in Somerset. We are unable to participate in Frome with our entry due to the cost of hiring generators for one day. But we try to support Frome in other ways with walking and juvenile entries.
“If anybody reading this would like to join us in our quest for greater things, please contact our secretary on secretary@oasiscarnival.co.uk or come along to our AGM at the Vine Tree public house on January 12th at 7pm.”
