Around £2,400 was raised for Fair Frome and Frome’s Christmas Get Together at this month’s The Frome Independent market.
Around 12,000 people enjoyed some early Christmas shopping and getting into the festive spirit at the event, which was held on Sunday 1st December.
Every month the market team partners with a local charity so they can benefit from so many visitors to the town.
“The charity for December is traditionally Fair Frome and Frome’s Christmas Get Together and this year Frome’s creative community pulled out all the stops to support them,” explained one of the organisers, Kate. “Saturday Afternoon Theatre Company (SATCO) entertained marketgoers as the Frome Fairies, Planet Janet performed ‘50s Christmas hits, and Frome bands including The Enrichments and Sweet Machine donated their stage performance donations. Fair Frome’s great team of volunteers collected donations throughout the day.”
Fair Frome’s senior coordinator, Lenka Grimes, said, “The Frome Independent is a wonderful event, providing opportunities for local people through work and supporting local charities like us to raise their profiles and collect donations.”
According to Emma Warren, organiser of the Frome Christmas Get Together, places are still available for the Christmas Day event, which is held across three locations in Frome.
“This incredible amount raised means so much to our festive community events,” says Emma. “We can now welcome more people on Christmas Day and also ensure that everyone who would like a free festive hamper delivered directly to their home can receive one. Please speak to Margaret at 01373 465418 to pre-book meals.”
