FROME-based charity, Purple Elephant Family Support, who work on behalf of vulnerable children and their families, are calling out for your help this Christmas.
The charity says, “This is not the happy time of year it should be for many children; a cold house, no tables overflowing with hearty or hot food and certainly, this year, not packed with special treats.
“Founded in 2015, Purple Elephant’s tiny but dedicated team also run a toy library, stay-and-play pre-school sessions, the small steps parenting support service, a mental health befriending service and holiday activities for children in challenging circumstances, as well as the famous annual free Frome Children’s Festival. Please help them help local families who are facing a very tough winter.
“Please donate directly to their Localgiving Families-in-Need Christmas campaign.
Here is why and how your kindness can help, explained by founder, Sue Willis: “The winter months are particularly worrying for families this year. Heating, cooking and food prices are rising, just when children most need to be warm and fed. We will be offering holiday activities, with the assistance of Fair Frome, nourishing meals for all, keeping our venues open longer as ‘warm spaces’ and giving just a few special ‘treats’ to make Christmas as it should be in childhood: a gift for each child at our parties, hot drinks at our support groups and free panto tickets to our local theatre shows. Please help us to provide both the essentials and the joys that make a happy childhood’.”
