Frome musician, Leander Morales, recently spent a weekend alongside celebrities such as Elton John, Rick Astley, and Arctic Monkeys as he performed at this year’s Glastonbury Festival.
Leander performed at The Hive stage and treated festival goers to a range of songs from his own repertoire with some well-known covers thrown in as well. This is the second year in a row that Leander has performed at the world-renowned Glastonbury Festival.
Speaking to Frome Times at Glastonbury, Leander said, “The festival is such an incredible experience. It’s not until you leave and glance over the festival site and you see the entire infrastructure is held together by thousands of artists, volunteers and staff, the ambience of every music genre playing at once, and the sound of over 150,000 people having a party. That’s when you can just about take in what has happened, or what’s happening.
“It was an honour to play a small part of the soundtrack of the overall festival. The stage I played was amazing. They looked after me and supplied cold drinks and pizza, so a big thank you to them! I’m grateful for the booking and I had a much-needed blast of creativity after several months away from performing live. I hope I have the opportunity to perform again someday!
“Thanks to Michael, Emily and team for pursuing the dream! Thanks also to my dad who took me to my first Glastonbury when I was 16! Thanks to my mum for giving me the gift of music. I’m grateful.”
