FROME FM has welcomed its youngest ever regular presenter – Holly ‘From Next Door.’
Holly, a 10-year-old student at Selwood School, has started presenting the Frome.FM Family FrontRoom Disco – a show created to get youngsters dancing and active, started during lock down, that has since gone from strength to strength with Holly’s youthful creativity.
Holly said, “I love making the playlists for the shows, and I’ve learnt loads about how to use the software and present radio shows, it’s a lot of fun!”
Holly’s mum, Joanne said, “This is a great opportunity for Holly, and has really helped with her confidence. She loves to dress up to present the show. I’m so proud of her!”
Holly broadcasts from the home studio of Frome.FM’s veteran presenter Ida Down, after Covid-19 closed the station’s studios at the Town Hall. This poses its own challenges with social distancing and sanitisation, but has led to the on air nickname ‘Holly From Next Door!
The Frome.FM Family Front Room Disco is the first show on the community radio station aimed at the under 12s.
Chair Julian Crawley said, “We are very pleased to welcome Holly to the Frome.FM team and to be able to provide a show for both children and their families to enjoy.”
You can hear Holly’s mix of current dance tracks and party favourites live every Saturday from 6-7pm on 96.6fm or online frome.fm with a Halloween party special on 31st October.
