A Frome primary school is embarking on a new initiative to help children understand how their brains work and support emotional wellbeing, following a recent funding boost.
Berkley First School has received funding for two years to implement myHappymind, an NHS-backed programme delivering interactive lessons in which children learn about their brains and emotional wellbeing.
“The aim is to help them process their thoughts and feelings, and each child is provided with a journal to record their reflections from the lessons,” explained headteacher Suzanne Thompson. “We are thrilled to have been awarded funding. The initiative will support the children in developing positive skills and habits to become their very best selves.”
Parents can join in on the journey too, with the myHappymind parent app. Suzanne said, “This app will help parents understand what their child is learning and provide activities they can do together at home. It also features a Kids Zone with myHappymind games.
“We are incredibly fortunate to have this programme at Berkley First School and look forward to seeing the positive impact it will have on our children and their families.”
