TEN-year-old Maya Bruton has had 12 inches of her hair cut off and has donated her hair to The Little Princess Trust, to help children suffering with cancer.
Maya, a student at Oakfield Academy, had her hair cut during the half-term holidays and is raising money to give to a charity that makes real hair wigs for children with cancer or those who have conditions that causes their hair to fall out, such as alopecia.

…and so does young Emrys
A YOUNG boy has raised money for charity by having his long hair cut off.
Six-year-old Emrys Sherriff-Prest has raised over £120 for the Little Princess Trust, who will also benefit from the donation of his hair. The Little Princess Trust is a charity which provides real hair wigs to children that have lost their own hair due to cancer treatment or other illnesses.
Emrys was inspired to organise the fundraiser after finding out it costs between £350 and £500 to make a wig for a child who has lost their own hair.
As a big John Lennon and Beatles fan, Emrys opted for a mop-top as his new hairstyle. Emrys said, “I will miss my long hair but people will stop saying I look like a girl and I didn’t like having it brushed very much. It is good that my hair will go into a wig for a poorly child to enjoy.”
His mother Tanya Sherriff said, “Emrys has never wanted his hair cut and was very proud of his long hair, so I always told him it was his decision. I feel really proud of him for donating it and raising some money for this amazing charity.”
