LOCAL woman, Jenny Barton owner of Enigma Gallery in Frome, is completing a lifelong ambition to skydive from a moving plane 15,000m above ground.
Jenny, who runs Enigma Gallery in Vicarage Street said, “I am facing a rather large birthday next year and I decided now was the time to crack on with my bucket list. One of my all-time dreams has been to complete a skydive for charity and this year I am raising funds for a multiple sclerosis charity who have organised the skydive for me.
“I feel excited and very apprehensive. I have an extreme fear of heights so, it’s a funny thing for me to do. We have limited time as we get older, so I wanted to get started on my bucket list now.”
Jenny is raising money for Wessex MS Therapy Centre, who offer long term ongoing therapies for people with multiple sclerosis their families and carers. It also operates two hypobaric oxygen chambers which are used to help with other conditions including cancer, fibromyalgia, ME, wound healing, ulcers, stroke etc.
The therapy centre recently won a national award for innovation in care in MS and is a completely self-funded charity.
The skydive will take place at Old Sarum on Saturday 2nd June and Jenny hopes to jump at 10am.
Jenny continued, “I know quite a few people in Frome who use the MS centre and they speak very highly of the wonderful work the charity does. I have to admit I am filled with both dread and excitement just at the thought of jumping out of a plane, goodness know how I will feel on the day.”
