The manager of Hunting Raven (Winstones) Bookshop in Frome, Tina Gaisford-Waller, has been awarded a lifetime honorary membership of Frome Writers’ Collective (FWC), in recognition of her support for local writers and for the community as a whole.
In making the award, acting chair, Gill Harry, thanked Tina for the excellent service to local readers and writers provided by the Hunting Raven team, and in particular for helping to promote the publications of local authors.
“More bookshops have now realised the value of matching readers to writers and writers to readers, and have increased their support for local authors, but we don’t know of any bookshop which is as dedicated and successful at doing this as Hunting Raven,” said deputy chair, Brenda Bannister.
“Hunting Raven is renowned for their welcome, their impressive range of books and their outstanding support for readers and writers of all interests and ages. It is no surprise that they have been shortlisted for the new Hachette UK and the Booksellers Association Sceptre Bookshop Award, to be announced in September. We wish them luck!”
