THE Wells Cathedral Choristers are due to perform a lunchtime concert at Marston Church just off the A361 one mile from Frome, on Saturday 13th May at 1pm.
The choristers consist of 18 boys and 18 girls in two separate choirs taking turns to sing with the Vicars Choral and occasionally performing on their own.
“This is an opportunity to enjoy a unique and spectacular event to hear the Wells Cathedral Choristers,” said a spokesperson from Marston Music who organise events at Marston Church. “They participate in international tours, commercial recordings, radio and television broadcasts, major festivals and now are coming to Marston!
“The choir has an extensive repertoire from sixteenth century to present day music, and has premiered works by some of today’s finest composers including Bob Chilcott, Jonathan Dove, Gabriel Jackson, John Rutter and many more. Directed by Alex Hamilton in aid of the Wells Cathedral Chorister Trust, all proceeds will go towards the Trust which helps young singers from all backgrounds to train in a world class musical environment.
“The Trust aims to build a fund large enough to provide permanent scholarships and bursaries for gifted youngsters. Tickets cost £20 and are available from www.wcct.co.uk/ tickets.
A limited bar will be open from 12pm so come and enjoy a pre-concert glass in our beautiful rural location.”
