THE Fox and Hounds has had a revamp and now goes by ‘The Fox, Country Restaurant and Grill’, and if you want a trendy but traditional place to go, it could be what you’ve been looking for!
With the removal of the main bar and with exciting plans to extend and develop the menu, chef and landlord Adam Harris has given the popular establishment a complete new look whilst still keeping the traditional feel.
Adam said, “A revamp was well over due; it was looking tired and dated so it was time for a change. A lot of businesses in Frome have been updating and moving with the times, and I felt that we were perhaps being left behind, so I made the decision to give The Fox a new lease of life.
“Taking away the traditional bar was maybe a bold move but I’ve never had a huge drinking trade, so it made more sense to us to prioritise accordingly.
“Our customers come to us for our traditional home-cooked food and this is now our focus. But of course we still have beer! We have a great range of bottled boutique beers and now local micro breweries are starting to bottle their beer so hopefully we can stock a selection – it’s an exciting time for local produce and we’re a great supporter of local producers.
“Our food is wholesome and home-made. Our pies, soups, puddings are made here and are consistently great – we like to think so anyway! We put a lot of effort into making sure we continue to provide the best – it’s important to me that our customers come back to us.
“Although we are sticking to our traditional menu, we have plans to extend it and add new dishes. We have a chargrill which we want to use more, so meat with different glazes and sauces will definitely be featured on our menu.
“We’d also like to start an all-you-can-eat, affordable, traditional British buffet to run alongside the normal menu. But we are still developing this idea so keep a look out for details.
“I’d also like to organise themed nights, including a rum tasting evening with perhaps a Caribbean curry served alongside.
“We’ve made some exciting changes so come in and see us. We look forward to welcoming you to The Fox, Country Restaurant and Grill.”
