Come and see how a small group of volunteers make a difference for refugees
RAISE (Refugee Action in Somerset East) is a small charity that has been helping refugees here and abroad since 2015. The refugee crisis has not gone away; there are 66 million people displaced around the world, stuck in reception centres, camps, sleeping rough.
On Monday 9th September 10am-2pm RAISE are holding an awareness and fundraising event in the Cheese and Grain café alongside their regular Monday 12-2 donation drop. There will be information and the opportunity to speak to volunteers that have worked in refugee camps and seen first hand the small difference everyone can make. Donated crafts and cards from local artists will also be on sale to raise funds, going 100% to refugees.
Donations of good quality men’s, women’s, children’s clothing, shoes, sleeping bags, tents, and as winter approaches hats, scarves, coats, gloves gratefully received. More information via www.raise.today or Facebook
