Local charity The Pod has launched a new ‘fun and informative’ website thanks to the support of local web design agency Webzang, which offered a free website rebuild to support the charity and provide work experience for Year 10 Frome College student Sam Shearman.
The creative and strategic director of Webzang Eleanor Hayes said, “Webzang is committed to supporting students through meaningful work experience placements and every year we gift a website to a local charity or cause so we can both give something to the community and also give our students real-life web-building experience.”
“Sam did a fantastic job of learning web design skills and applying them to the site, and he really enjoyed the experience, and pretty much built the entire site himself.”
“We have worked with the Pod Charity already and know the amazing work they do with young people and we thought it would be a perfect fit.”
Webzang offered the website rebuild to The Pod in January, and Eleanor and Sam have been working on it ever since.
Becky Bird, project development manager at The Pod said, “They have worked so hard over the past months to help us create a new and user-friendly site, which delivers on our hopes of being fun and informative, but also easy to navigate for our members and families.”
“As a small charity, we thought a complete web rebuild was beyond our reach. We hope you agree, they did an amazing job. Thanks to Eleanor and Sam for all the hard work. This coincides with The Pod celebrating its tenth anniversary, so we feel we are launching into a new chapter.”
“We cannot thank them both enough for the time and dedication to The Pod for delivering this.
“Sam was a great student and we felt the benefit of his enthusiasm and commitment to the work despite this being work experience. He did a great job for us.”
Sam said, “I’m honoured to have contributed to such a meaningful cause through this website. It’s truly rewarding to know the positive impact it will make.”
