A MAN, who is grateful for the care given to his mother in a Frome care home, is doing a skydive of 10,000 feet to raise funds.
David Mitchell, otherwise known as ‘Mitch,’ is joining Critchill Court care home staff to take part in the jump at Old Sarum, near Salisbury. Together, they will raise funds for the care home.
David moved his mother from another care home to Critchill Court last year and says that since the move, she has improved dramatically.
David said, “I would like to thank everyone who has already sponsored me and everyone at Critchill Court for caring for my mum.”
The Critchill Court team would like to thank all their generous sponsors, including Permaframe and RMS Ltd (Refrigeration Maintenance Systems) and Rogers and Co estate agents.
Preparing for the skydive challenge, Donna Golder from Critchill Court said, “We like to go above and beyond, something scary, something challenging. Someone suggested a skydive which is one better than last year’s abseiling; it is a bucket challenge we have all wanted to do and we just thought why not? Let’s just do it.”
The care home has a £5,000 target for an amenities fund, which will pay for days out in the local community, special events, entertainers and new activities for the residents. Last year, Critchill Court put on sponsored abseiling, bingo and craft sales event and the monies raised were used to purchase garden furniture, supplies for day- to-day activities, day trips, the Christmas pantomime and even an iPad which is used to provide music therapy for residents with dementia.

Critchill Court, a 50-bedded dementia-friendly care home is part of the Somerset Care Group, which is one of the major care providers in the south of England and one of the largest not-for-profit companies in the UK. Somerset Care reinvests any profits made back into the business to further improve services for residents and stay-at-home clients. Care fees only cover the essentials of the business meaning that any extra days out, events or day groups can require extra funding.
