THE team behind the Masons Arms pub in Frome is celebrating a ‘successful’ first year of trading.
Landlord Steve Jackman took over the pub in the summer last year, transforming it from ‘a restaurant that served beer’ into a ‘pub that serves food’, which has been welcomed with open arms by locals.
“It’s been amazing,” said Steve. “The locals are fantastic – they have really supported us and got on board with us. From day one, the locals have welcomed us with open arms – and the number of locals we have coming to the pub has just kept going up, and now we have lots of regulars too.
“We really feel part of the community and our recent win at Frome in Bloom has been the cherry on the cake! It’s been a fantastic experience and the business has done well enough that we can have Sky Sports and BT Sports here, on our three TVs.”
As the nights start to draw in, Steve and his team are starting to think about the months ahead, launching their autumn menu this week.
“We are all very excited about the new menu and looking forward to sharing it with our customers,” said Steve. “And the Christmas menu will go live in November.”
And anyone in the mood to break a world record, need look no further than the Masons Arms. “We are inviting customers to try and break the world record for flipping bar mats, the current record stands at 114 mats,” explained Steve. “The current pub record stands with me at 44. So come and have a go if you think you have what it takes!
“But do come and see us here at the Masons Arms, especially if you haven’t been here in a while – it’s back to being a traditional pub. Thanks to everyone for their support, including the Frome Times, who have been great.”
