Optimism has been injected into Frome Nursing Home as they have completed their first dose rollout of the Covid-19 vaccine, bringing further safety to the local community.
The home began vaccinations on the 30th of December and continued into the new year as the home’s community began the recovery phase in response to a journey with Covid-19 that started some 11 months ago.
Frome Nursing Home report, “The pandemic has brought many challenges to the Frome Nursing Home team and has seen new ways of living, innovative new methods of care and vigorous infection control policies.
“The home’s incredible adaptation and widespread response to the pandemic has meant that those who live within the home have been protected from the very worst of a virus that has in some cases, decimated communities.
“Cohesive teamwork and faultless following of guidance have been defining factors in the keeping of unwanted virus’ away from the home’s doors.
“Becky Press, one of the devoted team at the home, described how receiving the first dose has brought a feeling of seeing a light at the end of a tunnel for a journey that has dominated livelihoods.”
She said, “I feel relieved. It was a good feeling going around with the nurses and helping to get everyone’s vaccines administered. Makes you feel a bit hopeful. It’s amazing, people pull together and hopefully we’ll come out stronger at the end of it all.”
The home continued, “While the vaccination has brought optimism and shared hope through the home’s community, the team know that while they have achieved some level of immunity, they, along with many across Somerset are only at the beginning of returning to some normality.
“Covid-19 is here to stay, and millions of people across the world are redefining and learning how to live alongside the virus. While the introduction of the vaccine won’t be the sole answer to ridding Somerset of Covid-19, it has brought some safety, security and renewed optimism to one nursing home in Frome.”
