MAYDAY Saxonvale will two public events this month to share a deeper insight into the Mayday approach and its aims for Frome’s community in Saxonvale.
The first event is on Wednesday 11th October and the second is on Wednesday 18th October, both at Frome Town Hall at 7pm.
Paul Oster, Mayday Saxonvale director said, “As we step into the next stage, we are running these events to kick-start the process of generating ideas for the community-owned assets, and further community-centric designs for our plan.
“Our first event on October 11th will focus on our vision for ‘Community Owned’, and we will be presenting our first initial proposals that could take root in Saxonvale. We have been working with many local groups such as Edventure, Frome Food Network, and Frome Field to Fork. We will also be joined by Tom Spencer from Terrestrial, a community arts projects organisation; Assemble, a multi-disciplinary collective who works across architecture, design, and art; and our architects Studio Saar and landscape architects Landstory.
“Our vision for the ‘Community Design’ ideas will be the theme of our second event on October 18th. With our architects Andrew Kirby and Studio Saar, our development partners Stories, and Communities for Renewables CIC, we will be sharing information on an alternative for a bridge to Willow Vale, an energy microgrid, community gardens, and additional housing.
“Our alternative approach to development will be explained further and how it will enable us to ensure the maximum return in Saxonvale for our community of Frome and for Somerset as a whole. We are extremely excited to share some of these ideas with our community to begin the next phase of our design process.”
The events are free to attend, but space is limited, so it is advised to book your place early to avoid disappointment. To book visit https://shorturl.at/jBOX0
