CARDS for Good Causes welcomed Frome mayor, cllr Richard Ackroyd to open their pop-up shop, located in St John’s Church, raising money for UK charities selling Christmas cards and goods.
Cards for Goods Causes set up seasonal pop-up shops across the country to allow customers to browse and purchase items from a whole host of charities within the same location.
The Frome location, St John’s Church, has seen the pop-up shop every Christmas for the last 30 years selling for charities such as Cancer Research UK, British Heart Foundation and Barnardos, to more local charities including Fair Frome, We Hear You and Wiltshire Air Ambulance.
The pop-up shop gives back at least 70p per pound to the charities, with the other 30p going towards running costs.
Jasmine Dyer, area manager for M4 and the West said, “The pop up shop is often eagerly anticipated and a huge part of the Christmas routine for many families, as well as giving a huge amount back. Normally we will take some where between £20-30,000 just in the trading season, which is a matter of weeks and is really outstanding, thanks to the support of Frome residents.
“Also this year we have a much wider range of Christmas gifts for all ages and genders, and we will be opening on the two Sundays of the artisan market this year (4th November and 2nd December) between 11.30am-4.00pm.”
The mayor, cllr Richard Ackroyd, cut the ribbon and declared the pop-up shop open on Tuesday 27th October, and was the shop’s first customer of 2018! The shop opens until Saturday 15th December.
