FROME has received a legacy tree to commemorate the launching of the Tree Charter.
The beech tree was planted in Rodden Meadow last week by the Mayor of Frome, cllr Sheila Gor, Frome Town Council’s ranger David Krzyzosiak and community projects officer, Cara Naden.
Cara said, “We’d like to thank everybody who has already signed the charter; by doing this you are supporting trees nationwide, the planting of new woodlands and the protection of existing forests. For every person who signs, a new tree is planted somewhere in the UK.
“You can still sign it in the town hall or online at www.treecharter.uk. The new tree at Rodden Meadow is a testament to Frome’s collective commitment to this cause.”
In conjunction with this, and to help raise the profile of trees in the town, Frome Town Council has been asking you to vote for ‘Frome’s Favourite Tree’. The votes are now in and you can find the winner on www.frome towncouncil.gov.uk
