The Toy Library had a special visit from the Mayor this month, who has become their first toy sponsor.
Cllr Sheila Gore joined in the fun, playing with children, chatting to parents, and finding out about the benefits of the service to local families. The Mayor said, “I have had a marvellous time at the Toy Library and I’m happy to announce that not only am I sponsoring a toy, but the Toy Library will be the beneficiary of my Mayor’s charity over the coming months. Play is so very important and the accessibility of the Toy Library allows all children to access good quality toys and so I am pleased to be able to support it.”
Toy Library organiser Sue Willis said, “We are very grateful to the Mayor for becoming our first sponsor and for her support of the Toy Library. We hope to secure as much sustainable funding as we can, to reduce our dependence on grants, and the sponsorship scheme is a great way to achieve this.
“Sponsors will receive a Toy Library badge, certificate and a sticker on their chosen toy. The Toy Library would like to hear from any individuals or businesses who would like to become a Toy Library sponsor. Our Facebook page – Frome-Toy-Library – also has a Local Giving facility where people can donate at any time.
“The Toy Library is a wonderful service where families can borrow good quality toys and join us at twice weekly stay and play sessions – Tuesdays from 9.30am to 3.30pm at Portway Church and Wednesdays from 1.30pm to 3.30pm at Frome Library. We aim to support all local families, especially those on low incomes or facing disadvantage.”
