The Mayor of Frome, cllr Richard Ackroyd is back resuming his town duties after completing his epic bike ride to John O’Groats to raise funds for Frome’s Missing Links (FML).
In total he cycled 1,270 miles, taking the longer way from Land’s End to John O’Groats to highlight the need to connect Frome with the Colliers Way path for a traffic-free route into the centre of town.
With lots of hard work battling his way through Storm Ali, he made it to John O’ Groats and managed to meet his target of raising £2,000 for the local charity. The support will help them to develop traffic-free routes suitable for all ages and abilities in and around Frome.
Richard said, “Most people I talk to want to see the Colliers Way cycle path to Radstock completed, with a traffic-free route into the centre of town. This cycle path, Sustrans’ route 24, ends at Great Elm, just 2.5 miles outside Frome. FML are currently working with Network Rail and Sustrans to complete the section at Great Elm and as a trustee and the current chair of FML, this is something close to my heart.”
