RECORD Store Day 2015 will be taking place on Saturday 18th April and local independent store Raves from the Grave is preparing for the busiest day of their year.
Record Store Day is an annual event devoted to supporting independent record stores across the world; many artists release special material and play in-store performances.
Raves from the Grave’s Andrew Birch said, “Record Store Day is a day for the independents. Each year we take part in an event that is designed for independent record shops, where we can sell exclusive previously unreleased products that you won’t find online or in any multiple or supermarket high street chain.
“The bulk of releases are released on 7” and 12” vinyl and range from artists such as Bob Dylan and Jimi Hendrix to George Ezra and Foo Fighters.
“Last year we had crowds queuing up from 6am to get their hands on their sought after records and later in the afternoon we had some 500 people turn up to hear a live performance from Billy Bragg, which even attracted media attention and got us on BBC Points West!
“Record Store Day is by far the biggest day for us in the whole year. It attracts the largest crowd of vinyl enthusiasts and is a chance for us to gain new customers, especially with vinyl enjoying its well-deserved come back and more and more artists releasing their latest albums on record.”
Record Store Day 2015 will see re-releases from music legends including David Bowie, Bruce Springsteen, and Frank Sinatra, as well as a huge range of new and exclusive material.
