FROME Dementia Action Alliance launch their Memory Café on Wednesday 22nd February for those with dementia and Alzheimer’s, their loved ones, and carers.
The café will be held at the Masonic Hall in North Parade and will run on the last Wednesday of every month. A spokesperson said, “The café is a place where you can come and leave loved ones for a few hours in safe hands, or stay and have a tea and a chat, organised by the Inner Wheel.”
At the café, that will be held from 2pm-5pm, there will be activities and support available to signpost people to services available in the area to help with dementia.
The Dementia Action Alliance is made up of different charities and organisations in Frome who help people with dementia. These include Active and in Touch, Bluebird Care, Songs for the Memory, Frog Life and Pam Brewster, who is the local Dementia Champion and a member of the Inner Wheel.
It aims to enable people living with dementia in the community to remain independent and retain choice and control over their lives; to raise awareness of dementia within the town; and to listen to the needs of those living with dementia and their carers, to help improve the environment, support and services available to help minimise difficulties faced.
