Are you man enough to walk a mile in high heel shoes?
Engaging Women and the Frome Independent Market are challenging local men to walk a mile in high heel shoes to raise awareness and money for the White Ribbon Campaign, which aims to end male violence against women.
The walk will begin at the Market Place stage at Sunday 3rd July’s Frome Independent Market at 12pm, and end at the pop-up village green. Men are being asked to join the walk to take a stand to eradicate male violence against women.
Engaging Women is a group of women based in Frome who want to increase women’s contribution to public life and create a more inclusive society.
Town councillor and group member Kate Bielby said, “We know that most men do not commit violence against women but all men have a role in ending it. In the UK an average of two women per week are killed as a result of domestic violence.
“So, men of Frome! Take part in this special walk to raise awareness of the White Ribbon Campaign by walking a mile in women’s shoes!”
It is hoped the walk will raise awareness of the issues around violence against women and raise money for the White Ribbon Campaign a national charity specifically working to end male violence against women.
The Frome Independent has a stock of large size high heel shoes that can be hired for a £3 donation by emailing admin@thefromeindependent.org.uk and many charity shops in town are putting aside large size ladies shoes for men to purchase especially for the walk.
