A GERMAN TV crew visited Frome’s Men’s Shed last month, creating a documentary looking at how to tackle loneliness.
The TV crew were Eva Münstermann, Ralf Heinze and Ole (sound man).
Patrick Abrahams of the Frome Men’s Shed said, “The German TV crew were from an independent TV producer for German public broadcasting stations ZDF and 3sat. The crew were in Frome for two days spending time at the Frome Medical Centre and the Frome Men’s Shed, as well as filming in the town.
“They were filming two documentaries of the same topic, how to tackle loneliness. The 3sat science documentary is 45 minutes long and additionally features more scientific aspects like why are we human beings due to evolution more or less dependent on being member of a group? There are more experts (psychologists, sociologists and evolutionary biologists) involved talking about their study subject.
“The ZDF report is a Scandinavian-style report focusing on the solutions. They interviewed several Shedders during the morning.
“They also helpfully recorded a “Shed happens” ‘ident’ (station identification) for the Frome FM monthly Shed magazine community radio show ‘Shed Happens’.
“The ident states ‘You’re listening to “Shed Happens” on Frome FM at 96.6 locally and online and on demand world wide at Frome dot fm.’ We already have this ident in Welsh, Portuguese, Swedish and Korean from earlier visits by TV crews.”
