FROME Town Council has launched a new page on its website, listing what mental health support is available for young people in Frome.
This coincides with World Mental Health Day, which takes place on 10th October every year and is an opportunity to highlight the issue of mental health and to recognise how many of us, even the very young, experience mental health problems at some time in our lives.
Young People’s Mental Health is an area of concern to many agencies in Frome. As part of its work on Health and Wellbeing, Frome Town Council has gathered information on the various services that are available in the town, which offer support to young people experiencing anxiety, depression, eating disorders, self-harm or other mental health problems.
Councillor Jean Boulton said, “We have established a ‘Young People’s Mental Health Network in Frome and are hosting meetings with a range of organisations, both voluntary and public sector, working in this area.
“These meetings have highlighted the extent to which formal provision of services for young people is limited, and how concerned professionals are about this. But it has also shown that, with better communication and linking up, more can be done with the resources available. The Town Council are pleased to be able to play a role in making this happen.”
