Midlife women’s career group launches in Frome

A new group helping women explore career ideas and connect with others has launched in Frome. 

The Second Act group is a monthly meet-up for women in midlife led by Charlie Wilson, 44, and Helen Stay, 43. It was created after the pair found themselves both feeling uncertain about their next steps professionally.

Charlie said, “I asked members of my weekly Spanish club what they hoped to achieve by the end of 2026. Helen said she really hoped to finally make some decisions about her career but didn’t know where to start. 

“What she said struck a chord with me. We both felt stuck professionally. I suggested we run a group together for other women like us and The Second Act was born.”

Helen said, “There’s a lot of pressure to feel like you are on the right track career-wise at this point in life. The Second Act is a chance to get unstuck, think creatively and find a community of women who might be feeling the same way. We sit down together with a cup of tea or glass of wine and work out how to get where we’re going next.”

The group runs from 6.30pm to 7.30pm on the third Thursday of each month at The Good Heart, Palmer Street and is open to any woman in midlife or older who wants to rethink their career but is not sure where to begin. The next meeting is on 16th July.
