Frome Refresh continues to go from strength to strength.
This grass roots initiative that provides toiletries and sanitary products to disadvantaged youngsters in local Frome schools was launched almost three years ago and is now well recognised by many individuals and groups in the locality.
Lesley Hooper, Frome Refresh coordinator said, “Since September, Frome Refresh has been supporting 102 young people with a delivery of basic hygiene essentials once every half term. Staff in the schools sensitively pass on the items that are donated by people from in and around Frome. Money from donations is used to buy any missing products, so that each time, the students all receive a full top-up pack.
“Frome Rotary has just donated £1,000 to the project, which will go a long way in ensuring its sustainability.
“Frome Refresh was launched in Frome by a group of Christians who are part of West Wilts Vineyard church in Trowbridge. Everything collected in Frome through the collection points, stays in Frome for the benefit of our local young people. Part 2 hair salon had a pop-up collection point for us during January. Cooper and Tanner have asked to remain as a collection point, having come on board over the Christmas period and Frome Town Hall continues to also host a permanent collection point for any readers who would like to contribute a new and unopened product.
“Frome Refresh is indebted to individuals and groups such as the Beckington and Standerwick WI, Orchardleigh Ladies Golf Team, St Catharine’s Church, BodyBasics Studio along with Frome Portway Dentist and Grant House Dentist that have all supported us in the last few months.”
