BOTH Active and In Touch and the Red Cross Home from Hospital scheme is looking for more volunteers.
Health Connections Mendip is working with these two services to help them find people who are interested in volunteering for them. Could this be you?
Active and In Touch Frome is looking for volunteer befrienders to visit and help people who have become isolated or out of touch with the community around them. Lucia Chadwick from Active and In Touch said, “The work we do is so rewarding, and such a benefit to those we can help. As a volunteer you do not need to commit much – it may be as little as a few hours every month.”
The British Red Cross is looking for volunteers for its ‘Support at Home’ scheme which helps people on a short term basis who may need some support and help when they are first discharged from hospital. This could include collecting from hospital on the day of discharge then taking them home, or helping people settle back in at home, shopping or befriending. Could you spare a few hours to help support someone in need? Full training is provided.
If you would like to be involved, please come and see Health Connections Mendip at the Cheese and Grain on Monday 3rd October between 10am and 12pm or at the Frome Medical Practice atrium on Tuesday 11th October 2-4pm.
Or you can find out more by contacting Active and In Touch on 07572 854029 and Red Cross Support at Home on 01823 273707.
