FROME’S popular and free to attend Multicultural Festival is back at the Cheese and Grain on Sunday 8th of October from 12pm to 3pm, with local people sharing and celebrating the many diverse cultures of Frome which is home to over 60 nationalities.
There will be performances and workshops of music, dance, singing and lots of stalls with different crafts and activities to take part in to learn about the different cultures and traditions. Opportunities will also be available to find out more about local organisations that provide support to refugees. There will be savoury snacks, drinks and cakes on offer from our international community. Small charges to cover costs will be made; please bring cash.
“There has been a great response, with local people from various nationalities eager to showcase aspects of their cultures,” said the organisers. “The festival is also an opportunity to meet people from your own country, make new friends, and learn new things about how people do things differently in other countries.
“Multicultural Frome is pleased to have received funding from Frome Town Council for our work in the town on diversity and inclusion and to work alongside other local organisations such as the Refugee Hub, Frome Welcomes Refugees, Frome Twinning Association, Somerset Diverse Communities, SARI (Stand Against Racism & Inequality), Frome’s Anti-Racism Communities group ARC as well as local schools.”
The event is organised by the charity Young People Frome and donations are very welcome on the day.
