The Royal British Legion’s Batcombe and District Branch will be hosting an illustrated talk by Lt. Gen. Sir Robert Fry KCB, CBE, in Batcombe Village Hall on Friday 9th October at 6pm.
Members of the local branch of the Royal British Legion say they are extremely fortunate this year to have as their speaker a man who had a glittering career becoming Commandant General of The Royal Marines and finally being appointed Deputy Commander Coalition Forces in Iraq. He also served in N. Ireland, Gulf, Kosovo, Iraq and Afghanistan.
They say, “He is widely regarded for his public speaking; predictably, while his subject is set within the context of the First World War, he has decided to take an altogether different slant concentrating not on the battles and tactics, but giving an insight into the characters of the commanders, the human side of their relationships and the consequences these had on the decisions they took. In his words he is concerned with “Myths, lies and personal prejudices”!
“You need to pre-order your place with Niall Warry at niall@warry.go-plus.net or tel. 01749 838816.
