FROME faced Holt who had been promoted at the same time as themselves to the Premier Division of the Moonraker League.
With very little wind and a pleasant temperature, it was a perfect evening for netball. Diamonds, who are sponsored by Dennis Maps, had seven players due to injury and illness, but a great team performance saw them take the victory. With new combinations, Diamonds took a while to get going and Holt led by 5 at the end of the first stanza. Lauren Wilkinson at Goal Attack started to find her shooting range and telling interceptions by Amelia Pulvertaft and Emily Pascoe in defence meant they closed the gap at half time. Meg Young and Georgina Guy made telling passes into the shooters of Janie Bullus and Lauren, who converted these chances for Diamonds to be only two goals behind at three quarter time. With Holt tiring, Bev Chapman and Emily stopped passes getting to the Holt shooters, whilst Lauren upped the ante by scoring at will.
Taking the lead for the first time in the match they held on for the win and to secure 5 points, whilst denying Holt any. Phenomenal shooting earned Lauren the Player of the Match, whilst the Player’s Player award went to Emily for her perseverance.
