Frome-based artist Paul Newman has just taken over Studio 3 at Black Swan Arts in Frome.
Paul is renowned for his detailed graphite work of nature and rendition of texture, and currently has work in the ‘Drawn’ exhibition at the Royal West of England Academy in Bristol.
The move comes at an exciting time when the Black Swan is redeveloping use of it’s iconic Round Tower building as art exhibition space and seeing increased visitor numbers to the centre.
Paul said, “I’m really pleased to be part of the artist community here – the Black Swan has a great reputation and this is an exciting opportunity to further my artistic career.
“I’m looking forward to meeting people, displaying my work and demonstrating my working process, as well as sharing some of my influences and techniques.
“The studios are a great place to showcase art and for the public to engage with the people who make it. I’ll have original pieces, prints and cards for sale as well as starting to offer tutorials and advice on drawing.
“I participate in Frome Open Studios and have also worked at the Black Swan so it’s great to be able to take that next step.”
Studio 3 is open 9.00am-5.00pm, Tuesday to Saturday.
