Cat Action Trust, the pioneering society for the welfare of cats, are pleased to be opening their newest branch in Frome.
Cat Action Trust was primarily set up to humanely control, contain and maintain the feral cat population and were among the first to use the Trap, Neuter, Return policy.
Nowadays, the charity has extended its care to all cats and will offer help and assistance whenever possible.
The Bath & Mendip branch will have its work cut out as it covers towns such as Bath, Radstock, Trowbridge, Frome, Warminster and Westbury as well as the outlying rural communities.
Ginny Parratt, on behalf of the charity said, “The branch is looking for volunteer cat lovers who can help with all aspects of volunteering but mainly indoor fosterers and fundraisers. Indoor fosterers are vital to the charities work, we will have outdoor pens but for most cats and kittens indoor fostering is much more suitable.
“All food, training and equipment will be provided, all that’s required is a quiet space and lots of TLC, until we can find them their forever home.
“There are many reasons people foster, perhaps you’ve had cats before and miss the companionship, or financial or personal circumstances mean you’re unable to give a cat a permanent home; whatever the reason if you think you’d like to consider fostering give us a ring on the number below.”
In fact even though the charity hasn’t officially opened its ‘cat flaps’ yet, it has its first rescued cat, Tom.
Ginny said, “Tom was handed into us after being found straying in Trowbridge. He is such a friendly chap about 2-3 years old and has really settled into his foster accommodation, he loves nothing more than a cuddle on the sofa. Tom would be suited to a home without children.”
If you think you can offer Tom the home he deserves please contact the charity on 07504 129955.
