Frome Selwood Tennis Club is fundraising for a new community pavilion on Somerset Road.
It will be built on club land adjacent to the Mary Baily Field in Victoria Park, and will serve community tennis players using the park courts and club members.
The club would like to share the building with other community organisations in the Frome area, and wishes to make contact with any groups who would like to be involved as a partner in the project or who would possibly use it.
The proposed building would be of modern construction and will consist of a main clubroom, storage, kitchen area, changing rooms, toilets and showers with disabled facilities. There will also be an outside covered area originally for viewing tennis. The main clubroom would measure 10 metres by 6 metres and will easily accommodate two table tennis tables.
John Price (development officer for the club) said, “We want to reach out and find other potential users who will help make the project a viable financial proposition and serve the local community”.
