A new creative studio, The Frome Film and Photography Studios has been established by local artists in Frome and is now available for hire.
The group of local artists, photographers and filmmakers, frustrated that the nearest available studios with similar facilities are in Bath or Bristol, set about organising one for Frome. They have established a not-for-profit community enterprise, with the express purpose of providing reasonably-priced studio space for creative people in and around Frome to use.
The members have put together a unique space at the Welsh Mill in Frome, providing studio hire for creative photographers, video makers, filmmakers and other visual media artists. The studio is perfect for small film and video production, digital image capture, visual arts workshops, portrait, product and close-up photography.
The Frome Film and Photography Studios are suitable for local camera clubs, photographic societies, filmmakers, artists, video clubs, local photographers, film and video makers. Local residents will be able to create short films and digital content in the studio quickly and efficiently, without all the overheads of having their own studio.
The studio is 4.11 metres wide by 5.5 metres long and 2.7 metres high. (13.5 foot wide by 18 foot long by 8.8 feet high.) The walls and ceiling are painted matt white and the floor is painted light grey.
There lots of facilities available including a selection of (continuous) film and (remote flash) photo lighting, floor to ceiling fleece drapes in white, black and green screen, plus acoustic screens, a selection of backdrops and reflectors etc. Users will need to bring their own camera, tripod (and microphone if appropriate.) Image and film editing facilities will also be available soon.
The studio is ready to hire for local photographers, filmmakers and anybody else in the community who wants to use the space for visual and performing arts. Hire rates from £10 an hour, discounts available for multiple bookings etc.
