New volunteer rangers get stuck in at Weylands

FROME’S new team of volunteer rangers have been busy improving the town.

In its first session, the team re-covered the footpath by the river at Weylands with fresh woodchip and added to the daffodils already planted ready for spring.

Eight people were welcomed to the session on Wednesday 17th January by Frome Town Council ranger Asia Pryjda.

The volunteer ranger team meets fortnightly and will tackle a range of tasks around Frome’s parks and open spaces.

Cllr Mark Dorrington, who attended the session, said, “Our dedicated team of town rangers work hard to keep Frome looking its best all year round. ‘Many hands make light work’, as the saying goes; our new volunteers will work with the rangers, helping them get some of the outdoor jobs done in less time, while they make new friends, learn skills and enjoy time in nature. The tea and biscuits are a well-deserved bonus!”

Ranger Asia said, “We were so pleased to have eight new volunteer rangers for our first session, and what a great job they did! We’re planning to meet every fortnight on Wednesdays, and there are two sessions, 10am to 12pm and 1pm to 3pm, so you can come to whichever is most convenient – or even stay for both sessions if you like.”
