BATCOMBE Film Society is showing Minari on Friday 14th January, which follows a Korean-American family in 1980s America.
The film’s synopsis says, “Jacob, Monica and their two children move to a tiny farm in the Ozarks in search of a better life. Jacob (Steven Yeun) plans to grow Korean vegetables but his wife Monica (Yeri Han) fears he’s being too ambitious and worries about the family finances.
“Family life becomes more complicated with the arrival of Monica’s mother Soonja (played by Academy Award Winner Yuh-Jung Youn) and who is not quite the grandmother the children had expected. An intimate portrayal of the resilience of family and what really makes a home (dir. Lee Isaac Chung / 2020 / 115 mins / 12).”
