Pupils at Oakfield Academy competed in a house competition on Friday 19th January, to raise funds for the Dementia Care Unit at the Royal United Hospital.
Dawn Warren of the academy said, “Pupils and staff mounted spinning bikes that were kindly loaned to the school by Frome Leisure Centre and the Train Station Gymnasium. Frome Town Council very kindly allowed their town rangers to assist with transporting the exercise equipment.
“Pupils were encouraged to make a donation to the charity, and had assemblies highlighting the important work that the unit does. School prefects and sports leaders kept a close eye on the recording of mileage on the bikes.
“The event was hugely successful, raising over £300 for the cause. Everybody thoroughly enjoyed the day.”
