FROME’S unique photographic print and gallery space, One A, has partnered up with Photo|Frome, the town’s new annual photography festival, to host a mini-exhibition in the run-up to Christmas, from Friday 25th November to Saturday 24th December.
‘WITNESS’ displays selected work from Photo|Frome co-founders David Chedgy, Martin Bax, Mick Yates, and Joao Diniz Sanches. Ranging from captured off-screen instances on a film set in 1970s’ Tunisia, to images reflecting a lifetime of travel, to contemporary street scenes, the exhibition exemplifies the impact of photography as a medium, able to document the moments that are otherwise lost.
Joao Diniz Sanches said, “The concept for Photo|Frome came from a collective desire to bring more photography to our town, and we’ll embrace any opportunity to do just that – whether that’s a full-blown festival attended by over 6,000 visitors as we managed last July, or a quickfire exhibition to offer residents a little extra substance as they go about their Christmas shopping.
“We’re grateful to One A for both granting us the space and giving us an excuse to indulge in a slight distraction from months of planning Photo|Frome 2023.”
One A owner, Lockhart Murdoch added, “A lifelong passion for photography means I’m always delighted to support local photographic ventures, so dedicating some of One A’s gallery space to showcase the work of Photo|Frome’s founding quartet, following their delivery of an excellent first festival last summer, seemed like the right thing to do.
“Their photography will complement the shop’s wide selection of original and limited-edition prints spanning everything from photojournalism, documentary and street, to music, film and TV portraiture, travel and vintage.”
The exhibition runs from Friday 25th November to Saturday 24th December, Wednesdays to Fridays (11am to 4pm), Saturdays (10am to 4pm), and Frome Independent Sunday (4th December, 10am to 3pm).
