Frome Renewable Energy Co-op and Frome Town Council are getting ready for their One Planet Sunday event at the Cheese and Grain on 14th September (10.00am – 4.00pm).
The event offers an exciting array of free workshops, stalls, performance, food, music and activities for all ages.
Organised by Anna Francis, Frome Town Council’s energy and recycling officer, the focus is on Energy – with impartial expert advice on how to cut bills and carbon; Waste – including a free repair area and swap shop, Transport – including electric bikes and a lift-share ‘speed date’ and Food – provided by local growers and Edventure’s amazing mobile pizza oven.
The event will be topped off with humorous poetry from Matt Harvey and live music from Seize the Day.
Anna explains, “We want to make the event as interesting and useful as possible. The morning kicks off with an ‘Ask the Architect session’ – offering free advice on how to make your home warmer and wealthier including information on income-generating opportunities such as the Renewable Heat Incentive.
“There are hands-on activities on how to build a wind turbine and make a solar panel from scrap, forest school activities for kids and a ‘talking shop’ for any green issues.
“We also have Professor Keith Barnett discussing his amazing new book the ‘Solar Revolution’ and Perry Walker from the New Economics Foundation who will be running a workshop on how to build consensus around contentious issues such as fracking. And don’t forget to bring something to fix or swap!”
A full programme of activities is now available on-line and at Frome Library. For more information see: www.freco.org email: anna@freco.org or call: 01373 453704
