FromeDrama are not resting on their laurels following the success of Les Liaisons Dangereuses – they are immediately launching into action on their next production – Silence by Moria Buffini, for the Frome Festival, at the Assembly Rooms, Frome, on 7th, 8th, and 9th July.
The company says, “Open auditions are being held on Wednesday 20th April at The Granary, the George Hotel, at 7.30pm. All welcome – we’re looking for men and women playing aged 16 to 50 to join our experienced production team.”
About the new show FromeDrama says, “When Ymma of Normandy is forced to marry the Viking Lord Silence, it sets in motion a chain of events that threatens to destabilise a whole kingdom. Buffini’s play is a black comedy that tackles millennial themes of power, faith and gender in a fresh and biting way, that still feels contemporary – despite being set in the Dark Ages. It’s a sharp, sometimes blasphemous ensemble piece with a hearty nod to Monty Python and Ben Elton’s Blackadder.
“Blithering knights, cross-dressing Vikings and not-so-distressed damsels come together to face the dark roads tween Canterbury and Cumbria, while the shadow of a tyrannical king grows longer. At times farcical, at times chilling, Buffini’s play isn’t afraid to challenge its audience.”
