Artists working from the Silk Mill on Saxonvale are opening their doors for Frome Open Studios during the Frome Festival, giving visitors the chance to buy their work.
The building houses a mix of painters, printers, sculptors, jewellers, glass artists and fashion designers who will be open between 6-14th July. This is a great opportunity to see the artists at work and buy directly from them.
Clare Lloyd (Studio 4) is a maker of colourful, contemporary jewellery, each piece made entirely by hand, even the beads. Delicate silver rings, strings of chunky beads and earrings all in delicious colours. Amanda Bee (Studio 14) is a contemporary mixed media painter inspired by the landscape. She produces colourful, bold semi-abstract work of Somerset, Wiltshire, Cornwall and Lincolnshire. Diane Preston (Studio 16) is a sculptor. Her current work is focusing on endangered species. ‘Daines Atelier’ run by Evie Daines a fashion designer, who is new to the Silk Mill, produces exciting, bespoke, contemporary garments. Jenny Raggett (Studio 7) produces decorative stained-glass panels. She is inspired by nature and colour. Alexandra Brown (Studio 20) will be showing new paintings, drawings and studies in oil and copper leaf. And Lynn Keddie (Studio 11) a contemporary artist working in oils is known for her vast skies, invigorating seascapes, rolling landscapes and flowers to brighten your dullest mood.
