Frome-based charity Openstorytellers are welcoming a new director into their ranks after predecessor, Cindy Moxham, leaves to pursue a new venture outside of Somerset.
Cindy joined the team as a development manager in 2009 and became director in 2011, but she is now preparing to say goodbye to the charity after her six year run.
Openstorytellers was founded in 2004 and is based at Black Swan Arts in the heart of Frome. The team works alongside people who have additional needs to get their voices heard and to be valued members of their community. The charity has grown steadily during Cindy’s time working with the team and has led the charity from strength to strength, now boasting four day services and many other activities and social clubs within the local area.
Cindy said, “I’ve made lifelong friends among the team here, and I’ve met many inspiring people during my Openstorytellers journey. Although I’ll miss working with such wonderful people, I feel that it’s time to start a new chapter. I know the charity is in very capable hands and I look forward to hearing about Openstorytellers’ future achievements.”
Openstorytellers welcome their new director, Simon Morris, in June and are confident that he will continue to take the charity to new heights. Originally working for Salisbury Arts Centre as engagement manager, Simon is thrilled to be a part of Openstorytellers and is enthusiastic to take the charity to the next level.
He said, “I consider myself lucky to be a part of Openstorytellers, it’s a fantastic organisation. I’ve always admired their work to dispel the negative stigma surrounding learning disabilities and I’m proud to be working with them.”
Since securing the position, Simon has also been very excited about moving over to Frome and he is looking forward to becoming a part of the vibrant community.
