Mike and Angie Bishop will be hosting their 6th annual Town Crier competition and Festival on Saturday 16th June, at the Victoria Park.
The festival runs in conjunction with a fete run by Carab CC, which will commence at 11.00am and run through to 5.00pm. The Crier’s competition will be held over to sections;, in the morning all the criers will perform their ‘Home Town Cry’ telling everyone all about their own towns, and in the afternoon all will perform a cry about a ‘News Item’ of the first six months of this year. This year Mike has 24 criers coming to take part from as far as South and North Devon to West Sussex, Wales and Oxford; also this year there is a crier coming all the way from Gent in Belgium. The fete will have all the usual stalls and rides as well as during the criers lunchtime there will be children’s races, majorettes and a baby competition held in the arena, hosted by Mike’s hard working committee, that have all worked hard for the last 12 months raising the funds to put on this wonderful event. So come along at some stage of the day and see for yourselves what a colourful and exciting spectacle it is. Pictured: last year’s competition.
